A Once in A Lifetime Opportunity, The SLAVE DWELLING PROJECT
Nationally recognized. Featured in hundreds of publications from Smithsonian Magazine to House Beautiful.
Join Slave Dwelling founder Joe McGill in helping to raise awareness of the need to preserve these historically important, often-neglected, slave dwelling structures. For some it may take courage to
cross the threshold where ancestors were once enslaved, for others it may take courage to consider ancestors who were slave owners; all are present because maintaining these dwellings is an important aspect to preserving the story of slavery in America. Sleep in a dwelling, pitch a tent, or sleep under the stars in a sleeping bag on the grounds and enjoy a light breakfast in the morning. Space is limited inside the slave dwellings due to Covid restrictions and is available on a first come, first served basis.
